All clients entering residential treatment are made aware of the availability of HIV/AIDS Testing. One designated member of staff is responsible for arrangement of pre and post test counseling as well as scheduling of test dates and times. HIV/AIDS Testing is conducted by Arkansas Department of Health, who also provide information seminars on a monthly basis. The purpose of these seminars is to inform clients as to the realities of HIV/AIDS, and promote understanding. In the event a representative from Arkansas Department of Health is unable to provide training an AIDS Liaison from existing staff will provide the training. All requests for HIV/AIDS Testing are kept within established confidentiality policies. Any person testing HIV Positive, who voluntarily gives this information to staff, will be treated regardless of the disclosure. No client will be asked to divulge this information against his/her will. Established housekeeping policies will remain effective, with the addition of rubber gloves and bleach being available in the event of open blood exposure. All staff are trained in HIV safe First Aid Techniques.
